Kendall Jenner accused of Photoshopping images and ‘promoting unrealistic body standards’

Kendall Jenner SKIMS photoshop

Kendall Jenner is being called out for allegedly Photoshopping some videos and images of herself from a SKIMS shoot.

On Feb. 13, the model shared several behind-the-scenes shots from the photoshoot for the Valentine’s Day SKIMS collection. For the shoot, she wore the brand’s micro thong — and naturally, she rocked it.

Though many of Jenner’s fans, friends and family members showed their support for the campaign in the comments, other people on Twitter noted that the photos made them feel insecure about their own bodies.

With all of the self-hate circulating online, Jenner herself stepped in to remind people that they should never compare themselves to others, especially since they have no idea what goes on behind closed doors.

“I am an extremely lucky girl,” she said. “Appreciative of all that i have. But i want you to know i have bad days too and that i hear you! You are beautiful just the way you are!!! It’s not always as perfect as it may seem.”

Though many people applauded Jenner’s response, Instagram user @problematicfame actually accused the model of Photoshopping some of her images from the SKIMS shoot.

“This photo is very Photoshopped,” they said in regards to Jenner’s selfie from the SKIMS shoot. “Kendall is obviously very gorgeous but these are not her real proportions, nor are they anybody’s. Please don’t compare yourself to heavily edited images. Even Kendall doesn’t look like this irl.”

In another post, @problematicfame compared a still from one of the behind-the-scenes videos to Jenner’s selfie and noted that her bellybutton looks different. They also alleged that she edited the video she posted on Instagram since curtain in the background appears to glitch.

“Reminder: You are beautiful. You are worthy. You are perfect exactly as you are,” they said.

For many people, the idea that Jenner might have Photoshopped her photos came as a relief, since they were spending so much time comparing their own bodies to hers.

Other people expressed their anger and frustration with Jenner for promoting unrealistic beauty standards to her impressionable fans.

“Stop taking advantage and making money off of young women’s insecurities,” one person said. “It’s gross and this is 2021, let’s leave it in the past and in the trash.”

“A lot of young girls seeing this and being put under the impression that it’s 100 percent authentic is damaging,” another added.

Some people, meanwhile, came to Jenner’s defense, noting that whether or not the photo is edited, nobody should be policing her body.
