Just when I vowed to stop buying things from social media (cough, TikTok, cough), I decided to give in one of the trends I keep seeing everywhere. It’s the galaxy projector from TikTok.

New York City’s winter was hard. But if there was one thing that made staying inside a little bit brighter (literally), it was the galaxy projectors TikTokers can’t stop buying — me now included.

I first saw this starry lights projector on TikTok in early 2020, so I ended up buying it for my niece for her fifth birthday. Of course it was a hit for the five-year-old. But months later, something inside me said I needed it too — especially with so many TikTokers still raving about it.

The BlissLights projector is a more popular option that went viral on TikTok. The one I bought, however, is also a popular TikTok pick, yet it’s $30 cheaper.

This simple galaxy projector allows you to choose from at least 10 different color combinations. Each color can also be paired with or without green laser lights. With the included remote, you can mix one of the main four colors (red, blue, green and white) to get an array of color combinations.

While the projector is on, the lights gently swirl with cloud-like movements, which is so mesmerizing yet relaxing while reading a book in bed or during movie night. It feels like you’re literally having a night under the stars.

One of the best parts about this projector is that it’s also a Bluetooth speaker, where as other projector models do not have this functionality. While you’re enjoying the light show, you can play any soothing song straight from your phone. Plus, you can select a one or two-hour timer from the remote.

Yes, the projector is advertised for kids. But if you’re looking to create a dreamy environment in your apartment, this is the ultimate scene-setter.
