On the coattails of Starbucks announcing that it was finally going to get with the times and start selling oat milk as a dairy alternative, a matcha chai latte combo has quickly gained popularity on TikTok.
The coveted Starbucks drink is an iced matcha latte with two pumps of chai. One of the cool kids who brought it to TikTok, Robin Swann, told her 175,000 followers that it was the “best drink in the world” and tasted “like the moon herself.”

My Gen Z sister sent me Lizzo’s review on TikTok — which included the addition of oat milk — knowing that, A: I would recognize Lizzo over a 16-year-old TikTok celebrity, and B: I am trying to build my entire personality around oat milk.
First things first, I hate ordering a multi-step drink from a coffee shop. I sometimes try to pretend like I’m ordering it for someone else — as if I’m working for a high maintenance Miranda Priestly-type boss who demands complicated coffee — to ease the stress of not just quickly mumbling, “Coffee with milk please.” Yes, I am in therapy.
But this is a drink worth risking a social anxiety attack for. I absolutely love it — the chai adds a fun little spicy kick to the matcha, and it’s a perfect amount of caffeine for a post-lunch pick-me-up. Some people apparently order it with sweet foam, but I think this drink is already sweet enough.
What else do you need? Both Lizzo and I love it, so should you.
