Khloé Kardashian addresses unedited bikini photo release

In an Instagram post on April 7, Khloé Kardashian commented on her usage of photo editing and filters in response to rumors that her family’s public relations team had tried to scrub an unedited photo of her from the internet.

Kardashian posted photos and a video of herself with the caption, “Yes I did a live to show you all this isn’t photoshopped.”

“Hey guys, this is me and my body unretouched and unfiltered,” she added. “The photo that was posted this week was beautiful. But as someone who has struggled with body image her whole life, when someone takes a photo of you that isn’t flattering in bad lighting or doesn’t capture your body the way it is after working too hard to get it to this point — and then shares it to the world — you should have every right to ask for it not to be shared — no matter who you are.”

Kardashian went on to list several remarks that had been made about her in the past, where people described her as the “fat sister” or “ugly sister.”

She added that she uses filters and photo edits to “present herself to the world the way I want to be seen,” comparing it to wearing makeup and getting her nails done.

“You never quite get used to being judged and pulled apart and told how unattractive one is, but I will say if you hear anything enough then you will start to believe it,” she added. “This is how I have been conditioned to feel, that I am not beautiful enough just being me.”

“My body, my image and how I choose to look and what I want to share is my choice. It’s not for anyone to decide or judge what is acceptable anymore,” she concluded.

Supporters — from celebrities like Ariana Grande to Kardashian’s famous sisters — flooded the post’s comments section, sending heart emojis and plenty of positivity.

However, some commenters did not find her response inspiring.

“Your family is responsible for setting those unrealistic standards,” one user wrote.

“I actually liked the candid photo of you,” another added. “[It] reminds us you are human and not perfect.”

“Love you but I don’t get it,” another added. “You had an opportunity there to share [with] young women and every woman out there who looks up to you what body positivity is!”
