In The Know is proud to celebrate Pride Month. During this month, our team will highlight a wide range of LGBTQIA+ owned brands. We encourage you to support today and always.
Even in 2021, there are still people and places that fail to welcome the LGBTQIA+ community. That’s why brands like ProjectQ are so critical. Founded by Madin Ray Lopez, the non-profit organization “helps LGBTQIA+ youth navigate a world that perpetually tries to diminish them.”
Ray Lopez uses hair as a medium to help empower young people in the Los Angeles community and around the world. Not only do they offer free gender-affirming haircuts to LGBTQIA+ youth experiencing homelessness, but they also sell hair care products designed specifically for curly hair textures on the ProjectQ website. There are currently four products shoppers can purchase, including a Qurl Cream, Edge Control Gel and a Qo-Wash.
As mentioned earlier, ProjectQ is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, so all proceeds benefit the brand’s efforts to support and empower LGBTQIA+ youth. In addition to providing free gender-affirming haircuts, ProjectQ also offers food and hygiene boxes, gender-affirming clothing, chest binders, menstrual products and more. You can shop the brand’s hair care products below, or visit their website to make a donation.
