PEZ responds to TikTok hack showing the ‘real’ way to load its candy dispensers

load PEZ without a wrapper

Can you load PEZ with the wrapper still on? That’s the question on everyone’s minds, thanks to a viral TikTok video that’s now getting debunked.

The clip, which spread widely on social media in late July, claimed to show the “real” way to fill up a PEZ dispenser. In the video, TikTok user @sonn1c fills one of the candy dispensers simply by loading up the entire PEZ pack — wrapper, foil and all.

Many TikTokers were astounded by the video, claiming they’d wasted “hours” as kids, loading each candy individually. However, others weren’t so convinced.

“There’s no way this is real,” one user commented on the video, which now has more than 26 million views.

One particularly crucial naysayer? The PEZ candy company.

The brand responded to @sonn1c’s TikTok with its own instructional video, showing the actual best way to load a PEZ dispenser.

“Myth Busters: you can’t load a wrapped #PEZ candy roll from the bottom. Check out the proper way,” the brand wrote on Instagram.

In the video, PEZ shows that you can, in fact, load a full pack of candy into a dispenser at once — if you’re careful. But what you can’t do, according to the company, is load them with the wrapper still on.

“This is great. I just saw the ‘fake’ way of loading yesterday,” one user commented.

“I knew that video was a lie,” another added.

Of course, it’s hard to say for sure if or how @sonn1c faked their original video. That said, it’s worth noting that the camera cuts plenty of times during the clip.
