When the temperature drops outside, it’s time to turn up the heat on your favorite drinks! Not to mention, warming things up (literally) in the cocktail department can be a welcome departure from your traditional menu of boozy beverages. If you’re looking to warm up your happy hours, here are five toasty drinks for an extra cozy cocktail hour.

1. Hot coffee and brandy

This soothing cocktail goes perfectly with cold, rainy evenings. TikToker @join_jules begins by adding warm oat milk and amaretto liqueur in a beaker before blending the mix with a milk frother. Next, she adds espresso, brandy and the foamed amaretto liqueur oat milk in a separate glass. A dusting of cinnamon gives this coffee cocktail a homey finish.

2. Spiked apple cider

This recipe takes ordinary apple cider to the next level. First, add some apple cider into a pot with cinnamon sticks, pumpkin pie spice and orange slices. Stir until the mix comes to a boil. Next, add your desired amount of bourbon, Cointreau and vodka. Serve in a glass or mug with caramel, brown sugar and an apple slice on the rim.

3. Mulled blackberry wine

This standard hot cocktail pairs perfectly with your favorite classic jazz. To begin, add red wine, brandy and blackberries to a pot. Next, throw in some cinnamon sticks, maple syrup, orange juice, cloves and star anise. Let the blend simmer on the stove for 30 minutes. Then serve, put on a record, and enjoy.

4. Harry Potter butterbeer cocktail

This warm and creamy cocktail is loved by witches, wizards and muggles alike! To make the Harry Potter-inspired cocktail, add butter, brown sugar, cinnamon, ground cloves, a pinch of salt and water to a pot (or cauldron). Next, add dark rum and vanilla extract to the boiling concoction. Finally, pour into a tankard and garnish with whipped cream, chocolate and cinnamon sticks.

5. Earl Grey hot toddy

No hot cocktail list would be complete without a hot toddy. This simple recipe involves adding bourbon, elderflower liqueur, lemon juice and Earl Grey tea to a glass. Top off with a pretty lemon slice garnished with cloves.
