A mom of three filmed an emotional video about sobriety in the lives of children, and now her powerful message is going viral.
Mom and recovery advocate Brittany Jade (@brittanyjade___) gained 2.3 million views and hundreds of comments when she posted her impactful video online.
Brittany — whose bio reads “My MESS became my MESSAGE” — has made it her mission to speak on recovery and addiction in her popular TikTok videos.
After years of struggling with her sobriety and even temporarily losing custody of her three children, Brittany got sober on Feb. 9, 2020.
Since then, she’s been inspiring her 1.7 million followers on TikTok to talk openly and honestly about addiction, recovery and sobriety — and all with love, self-care, kindness and a good sense of humor.
In one of her most viral videos, Brittany captures the fear her children carry with them and the unique needs they have.
“They need reassurance, validation, structure, but mostly they need you to stay sober,” Brittany writes in her caption.
For those wondering how her kids feel about filming such emotionally packed videos, Brittany explains in the comments, “We film out of context. They definitely don’t know the whole story of what we are filming. I always show my [oldest] daughter my videos after, and it’s been helpful for us to communicate about that time in our lives.”
‘
I can’t tell you how much respect I have for you because of this…’Hundreds of TikTokers shared their emotional reactions to Brittany’s video in the comment section.
“I can tell you’re an amazing mom,” commented one user.
“My husband is struggling with alcoholism, and watching this struggle, I just have to say, I know I’m a complete stranger to you, but I’m so proud of you,” another user wrote.
“I’m so happy to see you addressing those emotions. You’re doing amazing,” one user commented.
“This brought tears to my eyes. Recovery is so hard,” shared another user.
“Tears rolling down. You have come so far, and honestly, I’m rooting for y’all!!” cheered another user.
“I can’t tell you how much respect I have for you because of this,” one user wrote.
