New York Fashion Week wrapped up last week alongside the VMAs and the Met Gala — so it’s safe to say that it’s been a major week for fashion. And while it was NYFW’s Spring/Summer 2022 season, you can actually wear some of the new trends this fall.
While each runway show and presentation was unique, there were three trends in particular that seemed to keep popping up. Keep scrolling to get the details on a few of the biggest trends that came out of the latest NYFW and learn how you can incorporate them into your own style.
Psychedelic Prints
Spotted at: Altuzarra, Brandon Maxwell, Kim Shui & Proenza Schouler
Vivid prints were everywhere during NYFW, but they weren’t your regular plaid or gingham. These prints were full of swirls, checks and references to the ’70s, and a few even had mushrooms and aliens incorporated. Each print was fun and playful — and surprisingly wearable.
Get the look: Just Float On Printed Flare Jeans, $98
These flare jeans from Free People are a great way to try out this groovy trend. Not only are flares going to be big this fall in and of themselves, but this printed pair is right in line with the psychedelic style. This black and white pattern may seem intimidating at first, but pair it with a solid-colored top and neutral shoes, and you’re ready to go. These jeans come in 10 other patterns if this one doesn’t speak to you, plus they are super flattering and a total deal for under $100.
Yellow & Green
Spotted at: Christian Siriano, Gabriela Hearst, Moschino & Tom Ford
If you like bright colors, then you’ll love the fact that a spectrum of yellow and green shades was a part of so many fashion week collections. From dresses to accessories to shoes, you can expect to see these fresh colors in stores soon.
Get the look: J.Crew Collared Button-Up Merino Wool Sweater, $68.50 (Orig. $98)
Daffodil yellow is one of Pantone’s forecasted colors to be big this spring, so this cute cardigan from J.Crew is sure to be a welcome addition to any wardrobe. Plus, this style is right in line with the collared, button-up dresses that are also trending right now. This sweater would be great with jeans for dinner or even worn to the office — the beauty is in its simplicity! J.Crew is known for its sweaters, so you can also rest assured that this style will be top-quality.
Two-Piece Sets
Spotted at: Alice + Olivia, Cinq à Sept, Jason Wu & Michael Kors
Matching two-piece sets have been trending for a while now, and they are not going anywhere. These sets, which are usually monochromatic, are a great way to make your outfit look curated and thoughtful but are as easy as putting on a dress.
Get the look: Nasty Gal Knitted Tie Back Crop Top And Midi Skirt Set, $35.60 (Orig. $89)
Perfect for autumn, this ribbed knit set from Nasty Gal nails two trends at once — chocolate brown (which will be a major hue this fall) and matched sets! Comprised of a cropped top and a midi skirt, this set is flirty yet comfortable. Wear it with your favorite booties and a leather jacket for an easy, fun look. Plus, the back of the top is semi-open and has a cute tie detail.
