Sometimes wearing real pants, as opposed to sweats, is just not comfortable. Zipping up stiff jeans or squeezing into skinny trousers — no thanks. However, leggings are always comfortable and these black faux leather leggings are also really cute.

On days when you just don’t feel like getting dressed but need to, put on a pair of faux leather leggings. You can wear them with an oversized sweater and sneakers or dress them up with heels. Wearing faux leather leggings is a lot like putting your hair into a ponytail — you did something, but it wasn’t all that hard.

No matter your style, wearing leather leggings in the fall and winter is the easiest way to elevate your look without even trying. Convinced? Take a look below a the top five black faux leather leggings.

1. Bagatelle.NYC High-Rise Faux Leather Leggings, $78

Credit: Bloomingdale’s

These high-rise leggings have a wide elasticized waist and an incredibly soft lining. [Editor’s note: I have these in black, green and red faux leather (the brand offered more colors last year) and just ordered a fourth pair in brown. The lining feels like a soft fleece and the outer material feels expensive.]

2. Spanx Faux Leather Leggings, $98

Credit: Nordstrom

These Spanx leggings are so popular, they’ve sold out a few times in recent years. More than 3,400 people reviewed them on Nordstrom’s website, too. They’re best known for holding you in in all the right places (and giving your booty a lift). However, they run small, so order one size up.

3. Express Super High Waisted Faux Leather Leggings, $32.40 (Orig. $54)

Credit: Express

Express’ super high rise faux leather leggings have a really stretchy waistband, but the band is actually hidden. It’s nice if you want to wear them with shorter tops or prefer less seams. These leggings also come in brown, red and light pink faux leather.

4. Commando, $98

Credit: Nordstrom

Commando is another big brand in the shapewear space, so it’s no surprise that like Spanx, its leggings are known to be slimming. These ones actually have a tummy-smoothing panel in the front interior, too. The faux leather on these is also really nice. It’s slightly pebbled rather than smooth and shiny, which makes them look more like real leather. If you decide to go for these, order a size up.

5. Anne Klein Faux Leather Pants, $69.30 with code FRIEND (Orig. $99)

Credit: Macy’s

These Anne Klein leggings have a seaming detail down the front of each leg to make them look like actual pants. Dress these up with heels and a button down for a night out or a holiday dinner.
