Mom transforms old pool noodle into DIY sprinkler for kids’ backyard fun

This parent on TikTok shared an awesome tutorial for making a DIY sprinkler using a pool noodle, and viewers can’t wait to grab their swimsuits!

TikToker Kate Bast (@thebastfamily) is a parent and content creator who often posts hacks, activities, and products for parents of small children. Recently, Bast shared a fun homemade hack that involves using a pool noodle to make a DIY sprinkler, and it’s a total outdoor playtime game changer.

In this edition of Bast’s video series titled, “Entertaining my toddler with things I have at home,” the clip opens with an overhead shot of the fun-loving mom poking holes in a blue pool noodle with a thin metal rod.

Bast uses a wine cork to seal one of the holes on each end of the pool noodle. She then plugs the hole at the other end with a garden hose

The fun begins when Bast turns on the water, transforming what was once an ordinary pool noodle into a spouting sprinkler ready for little ones to jump around in, with adult supervision of course.

Viewers fell in love with Bast’s homemade outdoor activity idea.

“Oh wow, I’d never [have] thought of doing this,” one user said.

“What’s your IQ because [you’re a] genius,” joked one TikToker.

Other viewers pointed out that children aren’t the only ones who can reap the benefits of the homemade sprinkler system.

“Great idea! Also works as a sprinkler for dogs,” one pet parent recommended.

“Also a cheap way to make a soaker hose for the garden,” chimed in another viewer.

As evidenced in Bast’s video, it’s incredible how a little imagination and creativity can give random and ordinary household items a second life. From door safety guards to front porch decor to sprinklers, the versatility of pool noodles can’t be underestimated.
