Groomer’s ‘startling’ typo terrifies dog owner

A groomer’s texting typo hilariously sent a very different message to the pet owner than the groomer intended.

The relationship between a groomer and a pet owner is based on trust — they are taking your beloved pet into their hands for a couple of hours. Sometimes that trust is compromised by seriously bad haircuts, while other times the trust might waver because of an autocorrect typo, like in this case.

A Reddit user posted the exchange with the caption, “Startingly matter-of-fact message from the groomer.”

The text exchange is from the perspective of the groomer, who sent “Dexter is dead” instead of “Dexter is ready.” The groomer then sent a photo of Dexter, assuring the owner he “had a great time.”

Hundreds of comments flooded in in response to the flub.

“I’m in stitches,” someone commented. “Something about the blunt message and the picture proving that the dog is not in fact dead has set me off. Brilliant.”

“I am absolutely howling at this,” another said. “Oh my god. The calmness with which the death message was announced. I can’t breathe.”

Others pointed out that, according to the timestamps, a whole minute had passed before the groomer corrected the mistake.

“She corrected it after a whole minute,” a commenter pointed out. “I would’ve lost my mind.”
