TikTok is convinced that babies born during the last couple of years are “built different.”
There’s a running joke on social media that infants born under the global lockdowns are special. These so-called “pandemic babies” appear to develop quicker and are more independent than babies born during other times.
TikTok mom Meg Diaz’s newborn baby girl is the perfect example of how people view this supposedly gifted generation.
“My baby at 2 weeks acting cray,” Diaz joked in the caption.
The mom used a viral TikTok sound about “pandemic babies” by @loveandpositiveenergy as the voiceover for the video.
“Let me tell something to you. If you don’t have a pandemic baby, then you cannot sit with me,” the TikTok sound said. “These new pandemic babies are built different.”
The baby girl was laying on her belly on a changing station. But at 2 weeks old, there was nothing docile about her. She was able to completely roll over. She wiggled and writhed on the table.
It was almost as though she was already able — and certainly willing — to crawl away. Diaz tried to steady her daughter, then eventually picked up the flailing little one and cradled her.
The hilarious video received 24.1 million views on TikTok.
“My son was rolling at 2.5 weeks too! No one believed me until I took video. He’s 4 months now and EVERYWHERE,” someone commented.
“She about got up, dressed herself and went home,” a user joked.
“25 years ago, I waited two weeks for my babies to open their eyes,” another said.
