If you like the thought of cooking at home but admittedly aren’t that good at it or don’t have a lot of time, there’s a solve. And no, it’s not another meal kit or frozen meal delivery service.
The June Smart Oven will rock your kitchen with how much it can do for you. Actually, it does so much that it’s not even really fair to call it an “oven.”
June is a 12-in-1 appliance: It’s a convection oven, air fryer, grill, roaster, slow cooker, dehydrator, toaster, reheater, pizza oven, proofer, broiler, and it can be a warming drawer.
OK, maybe you’ve heard about multi-purpose appliances like this before. But this one can also detect exactly what type of food you put inside and help cook it to your liking.
For example, if you slide a baking pan filled with salmon and asparagus inside, June will detect the salmon and asparagus on its smart touchscreen and offer suggestions for how to cook it. Choose an option, like roasting or air frying, have the appliance set a timer for you, and let it do the work. There’s no preheating required.
June can also sync with your smartphone via the mobile app to let you know when your meal is ready, so you can walk away to watch TV or cross something else off your to-do list.
Of course, if you want to, you can also skip its suggestions and cook your meal however you’d like. But where’s the fun in that?
June Oven, $599 – $999
I first saw the June Oven a few months ago at a press preview. While I didn’t use it to cook any meals, I did get a quick test. I placed a raw egg inside, and the oven immediately recognized it and asked if I wanted it hardboiled. I thought even that was pretty impressive.
One downside, however, is that June isn’t exactly a small appliance, although it is still pretty compact, considering its many functions. It’s about the size of a large microwave.
You can buy the oven, in addition to extra accessories, on June’s website. The standard and least expensive June Oven offers the ability to convection bake, keep food warm, toast, broil, reheat and slow cook. It costs $599 and comes with a nonstick pan, wire shelf, crumb tray and food thermometer.
Nonetheless, the June Oven Premium is the one with all the bells and whistles discussed above. It also comes with plenty of accessories, like a pizza peel, grill and griddle pan, roasting racks, a pro food thermometer and more. For the premium device, you pay the premium price of $999.
Considering the June Oven can replace your actual oven as well as several other devices, I think it’s worth it. Plus, it comes with a free 100-day trial period, so if you don’t like it, you can send it back.
Is this the future of cooking? It might not be for everyone, but you have to admit that it is pretty cool.
