The beloved Dutch oven is really an all-season piece of cookware, but it’s especially great during the wintertime. You can use the deep, lidded pot to make soups, stews and braised meats. However, you can use a mini Dutch oven to make all of that and more.
Le Creuset’s mini cocottes are perfect for making individual-sized dishes like French onion soup, dips, soufflés, baked pastas, gratins, cornbread, cobblers and more. Plus, they’re currently on sale for only $20 each.

You can get just one or get a set of four for under $100 on Le Creuset’s website. The mini cocottes are available in 8-ounce and 14-ounce sizes and come in several colors. The 8-ounce cocottes are marked down to $20 from $31, while the 14-ounce cocottes are their standard $34 price.
Keep in mind, one 4.5-quart Dutch oven serves four to five people and costs $375. So in the long run, it’s cheaper to get everyone at the table their own cocotte if you’re using them to make side dishes and desserts. Plus, it’s kind of a nice presentation to give everyone their own dish at dinner.
Unlike the bigger Dutch ovens, the mini version is made with stoneware. However, that makes it freezer-, broiler-, oven-, microwave- and dishwasher-safe. Plus, the nonstick interior makes it easy to get your dish out and offers a quicker cleanup.
Basically, there are no downsides to mini cocottes, especially at this price.
