Not Your Parents’ Advice

Love Hotline

Welcome to the Love Hotline! Drag queens Jujubee and Thorgy Thor are answering your burning questions about navigating the world of dating. Whether it be over video chat or good old-fashioned letters, your two favorite queens have got you covered with their entertaining “expert” advice!

In this episode of Love Hotline, Hannah asks hosts Thorgy Thor (@thorgythor) and Jujubee (@jujubeeonline) if she should continue going for eccentric guys, or if it might be time to settle for someone more conventional.

“I find your day-to-day, average guy to be super boring, so I’ve gotten into this bad habit of only dating guys with interesting careers, like SoundCloud rappers, YouTubers, [and] professional wrestlers,” says Hannah. “Do you guys have any advice on how I can kind of, get out of this bad habit and start dating people a little more reliable?”

The hosts’ response was probably not what Hannah expected.

“No, that sounds amazing!” says Thorgy. “Pro wrestlers? That’s amazing. And hot.”

Thorgy asks Hannah if she seeks these people out by how “weird” their occupation is.

“With the time of online dating, these [people] are always the ones that stand out to me,” explains Hannah. “Otherwise, they all kind of blend together.”

The hosts don’t see Hannah’s unconventional taste as a bad thing. “You’re attracted to people who are adventurous, different, off the beaten path, and I think [you should] just have fun,” says Thorgy.

Thorgy and Jujubee feel that Hannah, who is 25 years old, should continue to date around and have fun, and see if down the line, one of these relationships can stick and become a long-term thing.

“I needed to hear that,” responds Hannah. “Because my parents aren’t telling me the same thing.”

Thorgy, with Jujubee nodding in agreement, doubles down on her take.

“It seems like you wanted advice to go do the opposite, but I’m telling you [to] live your life baby, have fun,” says Thorgy.

After Hannah thanks the hosts and hangs up, Jujubee shares some words of support for Thorgy’s advice. “She wanted you to tell her what she wanted to hear,” says Jujubee, who was happy to take a back seat to Thorgy in this one.

The hosts wrap up the episode by reading some fan mail, where they discuss issues like how to deal with developing feelings for a close friend, or if rejecting someone who lives with their parents is considered “shallow.”
